File Readiness Checker & Fixer

Check images, signatures and PDFs against the rules an upload form states before you submit. Set the limits once, read a rule-by-rule report and fix files in your browser without uploading them.

How to use this tool

  1. Choose image, signature or PDF, then enter the limits the upload form states — or start from a preset and adjust it.
  2. Add one or more files. Each one is measured in your browser and gets a rule-by-rule report.
  3. Fix what fails, check the re-measured result and download files individually or together as a ZIP.

Example

An exam portal asks for a 400 × 400 px JPEG under 200 KB. Enter those three rules, add the photo, and the report shows 1600 × 1200 px and 812 KB. Fixing produces a 400 × 400 px JPEG of about 38 KB, re-checked before download.

Supported formats

JPEG, PNG, WebP, PDF → JPEG, PNG, WebP, PDF, ZIP

Limits and review

Check images, signatures and PDFs against the rules an upload form states before you submit. Set the limits once, read a rule-by-rule report and fix files in your browser without uploading them.

Keep your original and check the result. Automated checks do not replace human review or certify legal compliance.

Privacy

Files are not saved as a processing history. Server tasks use temporary folders with cleanup on completion, failure and cancellation. Infrastructure retention is not certified.

Frequently asked questions

Are my files uploaded to your server?

No. Files are read, measured and re-encoded inside this browser tab. Nothing is sent to a server, stored in browser storage or passed to an AI service.

Does this guarantee that a portal will accept my file?

No. The tool checks the rules you enter and re-checks the file it produces. Portals enforce their own rules, which differ and can change without notice.

Why is the same photo too large after conversion?

Changing format re-encodes every pixel. PNG is lossless and often much larger than JPEG at the same dimensions; WebP usually sits between the two. If a size limit matters, convert to JPEG or lower the dimensions.

Can it hit an exact KB target?

It gets as close as it honestly can by lowering quality and, when needed, reducing dimensions. If the target cannot be reached without visible damage, the tool says the target was not met and reports the smallest result it produced.

Which PDF problems can it fix?

It can rotate pages, clear document metadata, flatten form fields and rebuild the file structure. It cannot decrypt a password-protected PDF, restore damaged content or recompress photos already embedded in the document.

Why is my PDF page size reported as wrong when it looks like A4?

Page size is measured in millimetres from the PDF page box. A4 is 210 × 297 mm and US Letter is 215.9 × 279.4 mm, so an export can look right and still differ. A 2.5 mm tolerance avoids false alarms without hiding a real mismatch.

BEFORE YOU UPLOAD

Most rejected uploads are not broken files. They are correct files that do not match a rule the form never explained clearly: a size cap in kilobytes, an exact pixel size, or a PDF page size. Checking those rules first saves a rejected application.

What a file readiness checker does

A readiness check compares a file against the rules a website is likely to enforce before you submit it. You describe the rule once — maximum size, output format, width and height, page count — and every file you add is measured against it in the same way.

The report separates what was measured from what was required, so a failure reads as a fact rather than a guess: 812 KB against a 200 KB limit, 1600 × 1200 px against 400 × 400 px, three pages against a two-page cap.

Why portals reject files that look fine

A file can open perfectly on your device and still be refused. Renaming photo.png to photo.jpg does not convert it: the bytes still say PNG, and validators read the bytes. Exam and visa portals often require a minimum file size as well as a maximum, because a heavily compressed image can lose the detail a reviewer needs.

PDFs fail for their own reasons: a scanned page exported at 300 dpi produces a 6 MB file, an A4 document saved as Letter shifts the margins, and password protection makes a document unreadable to an automated checker even when you can open it yourself.

How to check image dimensions, format and file size

Write the rule down exactly as the form states it, including whether the size is a maximum, a minimum, or both. Then set the same numbers here and add the image. The report shows the detected format, the real pixel size and the exact byte count.

Fixing is deliberate rather than automatic: the tool resizes to the dimensions you entered, converts only to the format you chose, and never silently changes a rule you did not set.

How to prepare a signature image

Signature fields are usually strict about both dimensions and weight. A useful result is a clean crop with white space around the strokes, a white or transparent background, and enough contrast that a printed scan stays legible.

Very small targets, such as 20 KB at 600 × 300 px, are hard for any browser: JPEG compression creates grey halos around thin ink. If the target cannot be reached without visible damage, the tool says so and reports the smallest honest result instead of a file that only looks compliant.

How to check PDF page size and page count

Check page count, page size and file size separately, because a document can pass two and fail the third. A4 is 210 × 297 mm and Letter is 215.9 × 279.4 mm; a tolerance of a few millimetres is applied so that a normal export is not reported as wrong.

Password-protected PDFs cannot be inspected in the browser, and scanned PDFs hide their text inside images. Neither situation is repaired artificially: the report names the limitation so you can decide what to do next.

How to compress an image to a specific KB size

Targets are met in two stages. First the encoder lowers quality in measured steps and records the size after each attempt. If the file is still too heavy, the pixel dimensions are reduced in small increments, because quality alone cannot always reach a very low limit.

PNG files ignore quality settings by design: a PNG target is reached by reducing dimensions, not by re-compressing. The result always shows the quality actually used and whether the target was met, so an estimate is never presented as a guarantee.

Why this runs in your browser

Your document is read with the File API, decoded with the browser's own image and PDF engines, and re-encoded locally. No file, file name or excerpt is sent to this server, stored in browser storage or passed to an AI service.

The trade-off is memory: a very large scan can exhaust a mobile browser tab. Files are processed one at a time for that reason, and the tool refuses sizes it cannot handle instead of failing halfway through.

What this tool cannot promise

It cannot make a blurry photo meet a detail requirement, unlock an encrypted PDF, rebuild a corrupt document, or confirm that an institution accepts the result. Requirements differ between portals and can change without notice.

It also cannot recompress photographs already embedded in a PDF. The PDF repair step rebuilds the document structure, which sometimes saves space and sometimes does not, and the reported numbers are always the measured ones.
